Supanova Available Fishing: Charter fishing out of Weymouth offers varied grounds and with it a great selection of species to target. Supanova is available for Charter for a Single Day or 2 to 5 days consecutive fishing in and around Weymouth Reef Banks, Inshore and Mid Channel Wrecks. To help you decide what's best for your style of fishing here's an example of what's on offer and what you can expect:

The Reefs & Banks:

Weymouth and Portland's jurassic coast is surrounded by large areas of fish filled Reefs and some of the most famous sandbanks in the UK. All of which are easily reached within an hour of Weymouth. The reef areas start to come alive in the early spring with areas along the Purbeck coastline to the east of Weymouth producing the early run of the hard fighting Black Bream which come in to the area to spawn. Light tackle is the key and combine that with an astounding coastline your in for a nice day. The early spring trips often also see varying species turn up including Undulate Rays, Pollack, occasional Bass and the colourful Ballen and Cuckoo Wrasse. The spring also sees the arrival to the famous Shambles Bank and surrounding mussel beds of the beautifully coloured Plaice and Combine that in with the chance of a monster early Turbot your in for a good day drifting the bank! With specimen Plaice up to 6lb and turbot to 20lb+ always on the cards, a popular days fishing and one every angler should experience.

As time ticks on and we arrive into May and June the Reefs begin to produce what I like to call the angry fish! Weymouth see's the arrival of Tope, Congers and Bull Huss to the rough ground marks. These guys are seriously under rated but are fantastic to catch, and if you want to catch a fish that you are sure will put you through your paces then this is a must for you.

The banks through May and June will continue to produce Turbot with the odd Brill thrown in for good measure but the Plaice, now spawned move off into deeper water to feed up before re-appearing in the late summer early autumn. The Mussel beds surrounding the shambles can see the appearance of Cod during May and June. The Ray fishing in June begins to produce varying species such as Blonde, Undulate, Thornback and spotted's but doesn't really begin to come into it's own until September.

The months of July and August will witness the return of the Black Bream along with the much sought after Bass. Combine all the above for Weymouth's main stay of fishing until the end of October. Where in the UK can you go fishing and it not be uncommon to se 10 or more different species in a day?

Pollocks
Inshore Wrecks:

The inshore wrecks around Weymouth and Portland are often forgotten about but can prove to be very productive during the summer Months. Light tackle can see you have great fun with Pollack up to 10lb and the odd Bass adding a lot of variety. Also a session at anchor can also see good numbers of congers. You don't have to go miles to have a good time battling congers. Vic Evans current british record conger of 133lb was caught on a wreck in Lyme bay just 6 miles offshore.

Pollock Weymouth Mid Channel Wrecking

Mid Channel Wrecks:

The Mid Channel Wrecks are home to some cracking fish. February see's Weymouth boats traveling up to 40 miles offshore to target the new season Pollack which inhabit the wrecks to spawn.

This sport continues through March and into April where we see the arrival of ling. April also sees the arrival of cod which normally continue to offer sport until the end of June where it is not uncommon to see a Bass or two. Congers are present on the wrecks all year round but are at their most prolific during the summer months.

Channel Islands:

The fertile waters of the Channel islands of Alderney and Guernsey see many South Coast boats venturing over the channel from May onwards to target the sand banks for Turbot and Brill. As the year moves on the arrival of bass, bream and tope sees anglers enjoy some fantastic sport.

Combine some fantastic fishing with the evening lifestyle of the islanders and you are in for a great time. Trips are of 4 or 5 day duration that kick of with us leaving Weymouth and fishing the many wrecks in the Channel on the way. The middle days will see us fishing around the many sand banks and reefs surrounding the islands before returning to Weymouth on the final day again fishing the Wrecks on the way home. A popular short break for many Sea Anglers.

Multiple Day Trips from Weymouth:

Weymouth's outstanding variety of fishing can sometimes be more of a draw to some anglers than the channel islands. The trips can be anything from 2-5 days and will give you the best opportunity of experiencing the fishing Weymouth has to offer. The trips can be completely matched to the angler. With Wrecking, Bank and reef fishing all being possible over the duration of the trip. Some anglers like to run a species competition over the duration and it is not uncommon to see in excess of 15 species over a 3 or 4 day trip. Species you could expect to encounter on a multiple day trip could include. Bass, Bream, Turbot, Brill, Plaice, Cod, Rays, Tope, Congers, Bull Huss, Trigger fish, Wrasse, Pollack and ling.
